Intro
Rochdale Occupational Health Service is an approved First Aid Training authority and meets the criteria set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in the first aid at Work regulations 1981. We have 40 years experience in training.
Regular courses are run throughout the year, and a certificate is awarded to successful candidates following examination and assessments. Independent assessors regularly monitor the courses.
Occupational Health is:
- A means of contributing to the promotion of a high degree of physical and mental health, and well being of the people at work.
- Assisting with the prevention of illness and injury, due to work undertaken or the working environment.
- Providing assistance to reduce work-related health hazards.
Screening Services:
- Hearing Tests - audiometric screening to measure an individuals level of hearing to determine possible noise induced hearing loss in exposed workers.
- Lung Function Tests - spirometry screening to monitor individual employee's exposure to respiratory irritants and sensitising agents.
- Eyesight Tests - vision screening is a means if identifying individuals with defective vision and is a useful tool for people working with display screen equipment, drivers and employees carrying out close up work.
- Colour Blindness Test - identifies people who may be colour blind.

Medical Services
- Pre-employment Medical Assessments to determine whether a person is suitable to be employed to undertake the duties outlined
- Sickness Absence Assessments - consultation with Occupational Health Doctor, who will assess an employee’s suitability to return to work. Advice regarding re-development or retirement through disability.
- Night Worker Health Assessments for proposed and?or current employees to identify any issues which may affect or preclude them from working at night.
- LVG Medical Assessments - Doctor medical examination and assessment in conjunction with DVLC requirements.
- Lift Truck Driver Medical Assessments - medical for employees operating moving vehicles.
- Food Hygiene Medical Assessments - a health assessment at pre-employment would determine a person’s suitability to be employed under the Food Hygiene Regulations and to make employees aware of the importance of observing good personal and food hygiene practices.
