What is Shopmobility?
Shopmobility provides manual powered wheelchairs and powered scooters and volunteer escorts to help people who have limited mobility shop with ease and enjoyment in Rochdale's town centre. It is for anyone, regardless of age, whether their disability is temporary or permanent. Shopmobility also provides escorts for people with sensory difficulties, to help with shopping.
How to get there
Rochdale Shopmobility is in Unit 3 on the Rochdale Bus Station Concourse. There are parking spaces for members of Shopmobility on level 2 of the bus station car park. An intercom is available to contact Shopmobility staff and there is a lift down to the ground floor. If you arrive by taxi ask the driver to drop you off in the layby on Constantine Road next to Shopmobility. If you would like a member of staff to meet you at your car, bus or taxi please let us know in advance.
Using Shopmobility
When you arrive at the unit for the first time you will be asked to complete a short registration form. Please bring some form of identification showing your name and address. A member of our friendly staff will show you how to use the wheelchair or scooter. You will then have the independence to go where you wish in the town centre. It is best to book in advance to make sure we can provide what you need on the day.
How Much?
Membership of Rochdale Shopmobility costs £10 a year. Use of the equipment is £1.50 for a 3 hour session.

Rochdale Shopmobility is managed by an executive committee comprising of representatives from Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, Rochdale Town Centre Management Company, Rochdale and District Disability Action Group and Shopmobility users.
