Intro
Who We Are
The BTA has been in existence for Ten years providing training for local people to enter the construction industry. Having lost funding the centre has been moved forward and relocated and now opens its doors to everyone who wants to learn new skills and/or change their career path.
The Courses
The BTA's training structure is fluid and easily adapted to suit participents needs. Courses vary in their length and composition according to the required outcome but generally consit of one or more of the following:
- Wall and Floor Tiling
- Plastering- dry lining, rendering and finishing
- Bricklaying
- Flagging
- Block paving
- 2 Tone Crane Hire for Signalling/Hoisting Trainning
- Meeting Room For Hire
It may be possible to add other trades according to participents requirements.
What Trainees Say
Linda MacDonald - "The Course at the BTA was very good as it gave me and the other girls the training and confidence we needed when we went on site. Now I work on site with Sharon, who was one of my fellow trainees at the workshop and we are both doing really well. Our bosses and the tenants whose houses we work in are really pleased with the work we do and more importantly so are we. At 40 year old I have now found a career I enjoy doing"
Habib Ullah Jan - "After one month on the course I was a different person - a fully trained tiler, confident and newly skilled. Now I am working for a big name in the building trade as a tiler. I am very happy and satisfied with my work and about my future. The tutors at the BTA create diamonds from useless stones."
Vivian Marsh - "I gave the scheme a chance to see if I liked it and I loved it. The BTA was excellent - they made me feel welcome and settled. I love waking up for work in the morning now because it is for something worthwhile and something that I enjoy, and it’s a bonus working for a good company who look after me and my welfare because I still have one child under sixteen"
Trevor Jee, Bramall Construction - "Bramall use trained people from the BTA, because they receive the right training for the job."
