Date published: 12/05/2004
Rochdale Borough Libraries are doing their part to celebrate 2004 as the International Year of the Garden with their launch of the 'Great Green Read'.
Visitors to the main branch libraries in Middleton, Heywood, Littleborough Hare Hill Park and the Wheatsheaf Library will be able to borrow from a specially compiled collection of books that focus on this green theme.
The Great Green Read has categories covering the Natural Garden, Artists & Inspirational Gardens, Gardeners & Gardening Pot Pourri and the Junior Gardener.
Books include biographies of popular TV gardeners Alan Titchmarsh and Geoff Hamilton, garden poetry, famous gardens of the National Trust and the Prince of Wales, the work of Monet and Van Gogh and many 'how to' books on everything from garden design, successful growing and creating natural habitats. The Junior Gardener section includes children's classics for toddlers to teenagers.
Over 50 popular and unusual books are included in this colourful collection which can also be found at Touchstones Rochdale as part of their Spring/Summer 'Into the Garden' programme.
