Home protection advice at flood awareness event
Date published: 29/05/2008
Residents from across the borough will have the chance to find out what they can do to better protect their families and homes from flooding at Rochdale Town Hall on 19 June. Organised by the Resilience Team at Rochdale Council, in partnership with the Environment Agency, the public awareness event will take place from 9.00am until 2.00pm in the Town Hall car park.
The event will also host representatives from Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, the Council's Highways Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue - who will be on hand to impart advice and discuss the steps which can be taken to minimise the effects of flooding around properties.
Kate Fahy, Resilience Officer at Rochdale Council, comments: "The January flooding in Rochdale underpins why this flood awareness event is so important for local residents to attend.
"The event will provide a one stop shop for people to find out whether they are at risk of flooding and what strategies they can adopt to protect homes and families."
