Rochdale-born singer/songwriter launches debut single

Rochdale-born Will Tang launches debut single and new Manchester label with a showcase gig at the "In the City’ music conference.
 
Born and raised in Rochdale, singer, songwriter and star of the Hong Kong music scene Will Tang is fast establishing himself as one of the North-West’s most exciting new talents.

Back in the UK after a five album career in the East his potent blend of rock, funk and blues has already gained the attention of MTV, XFM and the BBC. Launching his debut UK single "Love Bites’ and record label, Zen Music, at Manchester’s "In The City’ all seems set for Will to establish himself as a distinctive new voice in the UK.

Though deeply rooted in the blues, Will (who became Hong Kong’s first ever professional blues harmonica player) is always keen to explore new musical avenues and enlisted producer, DJ and Twisted Nerve pioneer Andy Votel (Elbow, Broadcaster, Badly Drawn Boy and Ian Brown) to remix "Love Bites’. The addition of a memorably quirky animated video has seen the single attract great reviews and become a fixture on playlists at MTV and XFM.

Determined  to ensure that his UK releases were handled effectively Will also decided to form his own record label Zen Music with the help of sponsorship from Zen Internet, the multi-award winning ISP based in Rochdale well known in the music industry for working with events such as Live 8, the Glastonbury and V Festivals. 

"Love Bites’ will be the label’s first release with "Red City Blues’ Will’s debut UK album following in February 2007. 

To get the single and label off to the best possible start Will is launching both at this year’s "In The City" music business convention (29-31 October) with a high-profile showcase gig on the closing night, 31 October at Squares in Manchester’s Peter Street.
