Springhill Hospice Hoping to Make Rochdale’s Cuppa’s Count
Date published: 09/05/2006
Britain’s biggest Tea Party, Tea at 3, will be coming to Rochdale again in June and Springhill Hospice are now inviting as many people as possible to get involved and take part in the fun occasion.
Last year, around 3,500 tea parties took place across Britain some in swimming pools, helicopters and cranes with support from celebrities such as Melinda Messenger, Tony Blackburn and Jennie Bond. Around 30 of these parties were held right here in Rochdale. From homes and sheltered accommodations to hospitals, cafes and supermarkets, hundreds of people joined the fun and made sure that Springhill Hospice benefited from the national campaign, raising over £3000.
This year, the official Tea at 3 day is Friday 16 June, though any tea party held during the month will be greatly appreciated. Again, the hospice can provide marketing material that you may need, help you to advertise your event and provide you with merchandise to sell on the day, which will add to the funds that you raise.
Springhill Hospice is hoping to put Rochdale firmly on the map with this campaign and as we know that Springhill is already at the forefront of many people’s hearts and minds within the borough, we are hoping that now is the time that we can prove it.
Springhill Hospice Community Fundraiser, Leyla Nejad, commented: "Together let’s make our cuppa’s count again.
"All the money raised for Springhill Hospice will help pay for vital local services and now with running costs at around £5,500 per day we really need all the help that we can get."
