Brimrod Primary thrilled with Ofsted verdict
Date published: 25/04/2006
Pupils, staff and parents are celebrating at Brimrod Community Primary School this week, following the publication of an excellent Ofsted report.
The Inspector's verdict on the school, which had previously been described as having 'serious weaknesses, was that the school was now 'Good with outstanding features'.
Results have improved over the last few years, and are expected to continue with this upward trend.
The report also noted that the school was outstanding at assessment and self-evaluation. Teaching is of a very high quality. In particular it was noted that pupils get off to a flying start due to outstanding teaching in the early years.
The children described the school as 'exciting and brilliant'. They enjoy lessons, behave very well and respond well to the high quality support they receive. Staff are skilled in developing the children's self-esteem and making them feel safe.
Inspectors recommended that the school should:
- Improve children's fluency in speaking and listening in order to raise standards further in writing.
- Continue to work with parents to improve attendance.
Headteacher Sandra Hartley said, "We are all delighted with the outcome, particularly to have our outstanding care and guidance recognized. This recognises the hard work and determination of all the staff, Governors and leadership team. We also are fortunate to have parents at the school who are interested and committed."
