Tribute to murder victim Dave Reilly

Date published: 03/04/2006

The family of Roch Valley Way murder victim David Reilly (who preferred to be known as Dave) have paid tribute to him following his death in the early hours of Saturday 1 April in Rochdale.

His partner of 13 years Andrea Grindrod said: "Dave was a happy-go-lucky family man, he was well loved by his family and everyone who knew him.

"Dave always tried to keep the peace and he loved weekends so he could go and watch Manchester City - he was an avid fan and a season ticket holder.

"He was the kind of guy who would give you his last penny. He will be greatly missed."

Dave was a father of four daughters and one grandchild. He is one of nine children with six brothers and two sisters. For the last two years he worked as a salesman for Joseph Parr Builders Merchants in Rochdale. Prior to this he worked for B&Q for five years.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who was in the area around the junction of Manchester Road and Bolton Road, the Windmill pub or Roch Valley Way between 12 midnight and 2am on Saturday 1 April.

Anyone who was walking or travelling in the area is asked to contact detectives at Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8551 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
