24 years of success for Norden Soccer School, but help is now needed
Date published: 15/02/2006
Norden Soccer School was set up for boys and girls aged between 4 and 15 years of age and takes place annually at Norden Community Primary School. The Soccer school has been organised by local schoolteacher and well known Sunday League referee, Clive Wilson, for the last 24 years and has now grown to be the largest three day soccer school event in Europe - in 2005 the Soccer School attracted 950 children and usually has an audience of around 2,000 people.
Due to the size of the event, each year the costs are increasing and Clive has asked Sponsorbank to help him in securing funding which is needed to ensure the continued success of the Soccer School.
The Soccer School aims to promote a greater enjoyment of the game of soccer whilst improving both individual and team skills. In addition it creates the awareness of the importance of regular exercise from an early age. Hopefully this will enable young people to learn to enjoy physical activities which will contribute to reducing childhood obesity.
The 2006 Soccer School will be run from Wednesday the 26 July to Friday the 28 July.
Due to the ever increasing costs of running the event the Soccer School now needs assistance and is looking for businesses in Rochdale to assist in securing funding the Norden Soccer School 2006.
If there are any local businesses who would consider supporting the event the Soccer School/Sponsorbank have stated they will do as much as they can to ensure that the support is recognised.
If you feel that you can offer any support please contact Paul Marr of Sponsorbank: paul@sponsorbank.org.uk or tel 0845 330 2117.
