Residents to find out more about multi-million pound investment
Date published: 05/12/2005
Residents in areas of Rochdale being improved through millions of pounds of Housing Market Renewal funding are being urged to attend a special information event.
Families in Bellshill, Cloverhall, Hamer, Mayfield, Townhead and Wardleworth (East Central Rochdale) are being invited to give their views on Thursday 8 December at Heybrook School, Hamer from 6pm - 8pm.
Angela Forster, Neighbourhood Programme Manager will talk about work that is taking place such as refurbishments to homes, new housing developments and environmental projects like the Home Zone in Wardleworth which gives people
priority over cars.
Angela said, "We have an opportunity to help transform our communities and offer people more choices in terms of safer, cleaner streets and better housing. It's important that the local community are involved and we want as many people as possible to come and give their views."
The Oldham Rochdale Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder is investing £48 million in the first two years of a 15 year programme aimed at transforming communities.
More than £4 million has already been spent in Rochdale on refurbishing homes, buying homes to make way for modern housing developments and on a range of projects to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. A further £4
million is being invested this year.
Free transport will be provided to the event from Bellshill, Cloverhall, Mayfield, Townhead and Wardleworth. Residents who want to participate more will have the opportunity to take up free training on topics such as how to chair meetings and community involvement.
For more information about the event and transport arrangements contact Community Worker, Kate Arnold on 01706 745121.
