Buersil Park Bowling Club Pavilion Vandalised

Date published: 29/09/2005

At approximately 8pm on Sunday 25 September 2005, police in Rochdale received reports of intruders at the Buersil Park Bowling Club and Pavilion on Crowther Street.

Two boys were seen playing cards inside the pavilion by local residents but they left the scene shortly before officers arrived.

When officers went inside the pavillion, they found that property had been thrown onto the floor and graffiti had been written on furniture and walls.

The offenders also gained entry to a building close to the main pavilion and emptied lockers and threw items onto the floor.

Due to the extensive nature of the damage caused, officers are still investigating whether anything was stolen during the incident.

Police would like to trace the two boys who were seen inside the pavilion. They are both believed to be around 15 or 16 years old and one of them had a pedal bike with him.

The first boy is described as white, slim, approximately 5ft 7in tall with a pale complexion. He was wearing a tracksuit top and a baseball cap.

The second boy is described as white, approximately 5ft 5in tall and slim, with short fair hair and was wearing a light coloured top.

Some of the graffiti appears to refer to nicknames and police are keen to hear from anyone who recognises the names 'Foggy', 'Wiggfield' and 'Muffs'.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at Rochdale South on 0161 856 8549 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
