Fun in the Sun at Milnrow Carnival
Date published: 20/06/2005
Temperatures have been rising in Rochdale just in time for carnival season, and Milnrow carnival has certainly seen the warmest day so far this year, and it certainly helped everyone to have fun!
The parade took place on Saturday 18 June at 1.00pm, where children from around the borough gathered together in their costumes on Belfield Lane, Firgrove.
Mayor of Rochdale Ashley Dearnley fronted the parade, followed by Milnrow Pipe Band, St. Ann’s Junior Morris Dancers, Birch Radio, Newhey pre-school and primary school in fancy dress, Milnrow mums and toddlers and six carnival queens.
Some attractive floats were on display, including a santa’s grotto, and despite the blistering sunshine, children were dressed up in their furry Christmas gear!
The event ended at Hollingworth High School were there was a fairground and activities all afternoon.
