Date published: 04/11/2004
Three local school children will switch on displays of lights to mark the Muslim Festival of Eid in Rochdale.
The colourful light displays will be put up along Milkstone Road from its junction with Drake Street to its junction with Tweedale Street.
There will be multi-coloured displays across the road along Milkstone Road and individual displays along both sides of Milkstone Road.
The lights will be switched on at 5.00 pm on Wednesday 10 November in a ceremony at the Tweedale Street end of the road. The event will be covered live on Rochdale's Crescent Radio.
The children switching on the lights will be from Sparrow Hill Primary School, from St John's RC Primary School and from Deeplish County Primary School.
The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Angela Coric, will also attend the event. The display has been arranged by Rochdale Council in co-operation with local businesses.
