Fight the flab by going green!
Date published: 12/06/2008
If you enjoy getting out and about in the countryside and care about your local environment then now is your chance to get fighting fit this summer – and make a real difference to the borough in the process.
The council is looking for people to join the Green Volunteers Scheme. Those who take part will have the chance to do anything from taking people for guided countryside walks, hosting events, to getting their hands dirty by helping with woodland management. No experience is needed – just plenty of enthusiasm!
Cabinet member for Environment and Sustainability, Councillor Wera Hobhouse said: “We really appreciate the work that our green volunteers do. People have told us that they want our borough to be a cleaner, greener place to live in and we're taking action to make that a reality.
“I'd encourage anyone who's interested to get in touch. Our volunteers are a welcoming bunch and as well as getting fit and making a difference, you'll also have lots of fun!"
