Man dies in road collision in Heywood

A man has died following a road collision in Heywood.

Shortly after 1.30am on Saturday 17 May 2008, a white Nissan Micra collided with a tree on Pilsworth Road, Heywood.

The 20-year-old driver was thrown from the car.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The front-seat passenger of the car was taken to Fairfield General Hospital. The passenger, who is also 20, remains in hospital with non life threatening injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing and traffic officers are appealing for anyone with any information to call them at the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8473.
