Monday is day to learn something new
Date published: 14/05/2008
Final preparations are underway for the 'Rochdale Skills and Learning Fair 2008' being staged by Rochdale Borough Council at the Town Hall on Monday 19 May. The event is being held as part of Adult Learners' Week, a national celebration aimed at inspiring adults to learn something new or update their skills.
Over 35 organisations will be taking part, giving organisations a chance to brush up on their skills, including Hopwood Hall College, Learn Local, the NHS and In-2-Work.
Penny Sharp, Head Regeneration at Rochdale Borough Council said that the event will celebrate the energy and inspiration that adults bring to their learning: "Whether you want to gain new skills or qualifications to get a promotion at work, or want to learn more about a subject you're interested in, the Rochdale Skills and Learning Fair 2008 will be well worth a visit."
The day will be followed by a presentation of awards by Council Leader Alan Taylor, to recognise the efforts of adults who've already successfully developed new skills, overcome difficulties or changed career.
Entry to the fair is free, and the event runs between 11am and 6pm.
