Primary Care Trust declares national standards met
Date published: 13/05/2008
Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale Primary Care Trust has declared full compliance with the government’s national standards for healthcare.
The standards form an important part of the Healthcare Commission’s Annual Healthcheck which provides patients and the public with a comprehensive picture of the performance of NHS organisations.
All 24 standards are designed to ensure that health services are of a safe and acceptable quality.
The Healthcare Commission will now undertake a rigorous cross-checking exercise against the PCT’s declaration of compliance and take a view on whether the declaration is accurate with the results expected in October.
Chief Executive of Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust, Trevor Purt, said: “We work hard to ensure local people enjoy as good health as everyone else in the UK and we’re proud to declare that we meet all the national standards for healthcare.
“Our patients and the public are at the centre of everything we do and we want to ensure we are giving them the best possible services. We aim to help everyone in the borough lead healthier lives, adding life to years and years to life.”

Obviously they are going to meet targets, their good doctors and nurses, the problem IS the targets, they put the attention away from the main important thing, THE PATIENT, and deflect it onto stupid needless things like paperwork.
