Accident - avoid the M62

Motorists are being advised to avoid part of the M62 and the surrounding area following a road traffic collision this morning, Tuesday 29 April 2008.

Police were called to J18 of the M62 shortly after 4.30am.

Officers attended and discovered a recovery vehicle had been involved in a collision with a traffic management vehicle. One man was taken to Fairfield Hospital with whiplash and cuts and bruises. A second man is being treated at Rochdale Infirmary for a suspected broken leg.

Motorists are being advised to find an alternate route.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call the Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050.
