Baseball bats used in attack in Newhey
Date article online: 30/03/2008
Eye witnesses have descibed a number of men in a Royal Blue Subaru Impretza driving up Huddersfield Road in Newhey on Friday night, at around 10:40pm. They apparently got out of the car and used baseball bats to smash up two cars and tried breaking into a house - known to be jointly owned by two young women.
There were several eye witnesses and the police were called.
One of the witnesses, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: The two women think it was one of their ex boyfriends.
All you could hear was a crashing noise, at first we thought it was a car door but when it carried on we turned the TV off and noticed the noise was carrying on. We looked out of the front door and there were several other people looking out of theirs too. The men got in the car and sped off at high speed.
"The two women were inside the house at the time. A man from a window company came a short while after the police had left and boarded the window up."
