Rochdale Borough Tea Day

Rochdale Borough Tea Day, an event promoting Community cohesion and connecting communites, is on Tuesday 1 April. Venues include the Town Hall, between 11.00am – 3.00pm, and Darnhill Library, Heywood between 2.00pm – 5.00pm. Lots of smaller tea parties are also taking place across the Borough at local community centres, youth groups, tenants and residents groups, etc.
The organisers, Rochdale Centre of Diversity, have sent out 100,000 Fairtrade tea bags, one to each household in the Borough, to highlight the event and encourage people to share a brew with a neighbour or friend on 1 April.
Diversity Officer Shakeela Bano says: "We have received lots of phone calls from people across the Borough who have received a tea bag and want to know more about the event and where their local tea party will be."
Organisations involved with helping organise and support the Tea Day include, Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire Service, Rochdale Football club, Rochdale Council, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, Bowlee Park Housing, The Co-operative, Probation Services, Nucleus Marketing Services, Fairtrade, Voluntary & Community Sector Partnership and Cartwheel Arts.
