Rochdale Light Orchestra inaugural meeting

Instrumental players of Grade 5 and upwards interested in becoming members of a rehearsal and performance orchestra for Rochdale and district are being invited to the inaugral meeting of Rochdale Light Orchestra.

The organisers hope that at the meeting steps can be taken towards formally establishing a Rochdale Light Orchestra and adopting a constitution that will enable the orchestra to be affiliated to Making Music (National Federation of Music Societies) and become a registered charity.

A spokesman said: "It is envisaged that the music to be played will be representative of music of a light-hearted nature from the 18th century to the present day."
