Police release CCTV of knifepoint robbery

Detectives in Rochdale are releasing CCTV footage of a vicious armed robbery at a newsagent's shop.
Shortly before 9pm on Monday 3 March 2008 the robber went into Firgrove Newsagent's on Rochdale Road.
He asked for cigarettes, but then pulled out a large knife and threatened the woman shop assistant behind the counter.
He demanded money, leant over the counter and stabbed the till with the eight-inch blade. The till opened and he stole cash and cigarettes before running out of the shop.
Nobody was injured, but the shop employee was left shaken by the ordeal.
The offender is described as being white and aged between 20 and 25 years old. He is of slim build and had small brown eyes with medium to thick eyebrows and a clear complexion.
He was wearing a dark grey jacket with a hood up that appeared to be tied tight around his face. He was also wearing gloves and has a local accent.
Detective Constable Sam Halligan, of Rochdale CID said: "Although nobody was injured, this was a terrifying incident and it is vital we catch this robber.
