One person in seven in the UK is affected by a lung disease.

If you, or someone you know or care about are affected by a lung disease, a new group in Rochdale is set to offer support to individuals, families, friends and carers who are affected by a lung condition.

During Breathe Easy Week in June the group set about raising people’s awareness of the support service that aims to offer advice and information that helps empower those of you that suffer breathing difficulties.

The Breathe Easy team challenged people in Rochdale town centre to use their lung power and blow up balloons in support of the campaign that demands improvements to services for people living with respiratory diseases.

Now Breathe Easy Rochdale is calling on local residents to join the support network for the British Lung Foundation and become involved with fund raising and organizing other awareness raising and social events.

Guest speakers are regularly invited to give talks and offer helpful advice on lung disease, related topics as well as general interest themes at their meetings.

The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month and everyone is welcome. Anyone wishing to be part of Rochdale Breathe Easy should attend:

Karen Clancy, Nurse Consultant in Respiratory for Rochdale Primary Care Trust said: "Anyone who would be willing to give their time to help in an organizing role would be very welcome. We need lots more members to come and join us at our meetings, and I’m sure those people who are living with a lung condition will find the group support beneficial through sharing experiences and receiving valuable advice/information from our guest speakers."
