Police appeal following sexual assault in Falinge
Date published: 20/09/2006
Detectives in Rochdale are appealing for information following a report that a 52-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in the early hours of Monday 18 September 2006.
At approximately 1.30am the woman got out of a taxi on Clementina Street in Falinge and began her walk home.
As she walked along the street she was approached by a man who spoke to her. He then sexually assaulted her, before running off.
Detective Inspector Daryl Chadwick from Rochdale CID said: "At this stage we believe this to be an isolated attack. However, we would encourage people to stick together while on nights out and if possible travel home in groups.
"If you do have to walk in an area alone, try to walk in well-lit areas and avoid isolated places.
"The offender is described as white, 6ft tall and had dark collar length hair. He was of slim build and was wearing a dark-coloured jumper or jacket, a t-shirt and dark-coloured trousers or jeans.
"I would ask anyone who may recognise this description or who may have any information about the attack to contact us."
Police are appealing to anyone with any further information on this incident to contact Rochdale CID on 0161 856 4646 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
