Accident involving police car on Milnrow Road

An accident involving a police car on Milnrow Road at the junction of Milnrow Road and Uncouth Lane closed Milnrow Road.

The accident happened shortly after 3.30pm (Thursday 26 October), the police car was travelling along Rochdale Road, towards Oldham, responding to an incident with its emergency equipment activated.

As it approached the junction of Princess Road, it was involved in a collision with a blue Peugeot 307.

The police car flipped onto its roof, while the 307 subsequently collided with two stationary cars - a green Volkswagon Golf and a red Peugeot 306. The 307 then came to a stop when it collided with a bollard.

The police officer driving the car was taken to Rochdale Infirmary with a minor head injury.

No one else was injured in the collision.
