Christmas public transport info just a call or click away
Date published: 19/12/2006
GMPTE is encouraging public transport users to make sure they find out how their services are running over the festive period.
A "Christmas Times’ guide is available from GMPTE Travelshops at bus stations throughout Greater Manchester and can also be downloaded at www.gmpte.com. It includes details of bus, train and tram services between Christmas Eve and 2 January.
People can also speak to a travel advisor to get help planning their journey by calling the public transport Traveline on 0870 608 2 608.
Interim Service Delivery Director, Michael Renshaw, said: "As usual, the bus, train and tram operators will be running less frequent services than usual over the festive period. Information is just a call or a click away and I encourage public transport users to check their journey in advance.
"It can be difficult getting home on New Year’s Eve so I’m pleased that some bus operators are running special late night services through until 4am on New Year’s Day. Metrolink trams will also have a later finishing time of half past midnight which is also good news for passengers."
The free Manchester city centre Metroshuttle service will run every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
