Knife attack victim in critical condition

A youth who was stabbed outside a takeaway restaurant in Farnworth on Friday 17 August is in a serious condition in Rochdale Infirmary. The youth was one of two victims in the incident; his friend, 16 year-old Andrew Holland, was murdered when he was stabbed in the neck.

The incident took place outside Ashy's takeaway in Farnworth.

Mahmud Makxoudin of Madams Wood Road, Little Hulton, has been charged with murder and assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court. The 21 year-old from Iran has been remanded in custody until 2 November.

The boy currently in Rochdale Infirmary is 16 year's of age but has not yet been named.

The two boys were initially taken to Royal Bolton Hospital where Andrew Holland died a short time after having suffered a single stab wound to the neck, which punctured his chest.
