Help name the new health centre in Deeplish

NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale is asking local residents to put forward their ideas for the name of the new health centre in Deeplish.

Construction work on the four-storey development on Maclure Road will soon be complete and now it needs is a name.

John Pierce, Chair at NHS HMR, said: “The scaffolding has gradually been coming down over the last couple of months and we are beginning to see just how impressive the new development is.

“This new facility will bring a wide range of healthcare services together, providing more care closer to patients’ homes.”

The health services provided at the centre include four GP practices, dental practices, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, audiology, speech and language therapy, ophthalmology, orthoptics, podiatry, a district nurse treatment room, minor operations room and a child health clinic. Health Visitors will also be based there, along with a pharmacy, an opticians and a café.

To encourage local residents to get involved, all suggestions will be entered into a free prize draw to win a smoothie maker and recipe book, which have kindly been donated by the construction company, Eric Wright Group. Second and third names drawn will also receive a recipe book each.

Mike Collier, Director of the Eric Wright Group, said: “We are delighted to be working in close partnership with NHS HMR and helping achieve their vision. It is equally important that local residents see this as their building within their community and I’d encourage them to get involved in helping to name it.

All suggestions must be sent to NHS HMR by Friday 19 September 2008. The winning name will be chosen following consultation with local partners.
