A Heybrook Primary School pupil has won a bike in Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service’s Eco-poster competition.
Rumina Khatun, aged 8, was chosen as a winner from 314 entries.
Rumina will be presented with her bike tomorrow (Friday 18 July), at 10.30am at Heywood Fire Station by Councillor Paul Shannon, Chairman of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority.
The Fire and Rescue Service dog “Cracker” will also be attending the prize giving ceremony.
Councillor Shannon said: “The standard of entries to our web based competition was very high. We had a fantastic response with entries from 13 local schools as well as individual entries. The two winners represented the best in their particular age categories. The competition was held to reinforce the message to ‘reduce, reuse, and recycle’ and to highlight the impact every person has on the environment."
The competition, which ran on The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service web site, was held in support of World Environment Day.
