Council strives to maintain services ahead of strike action
Date published: 14/07/2008
The national strike by some council workers this Wednesday and Thursday (16 and 17 July) will see disruption to some services at Rochdale Council. The Council claims they are making every effort to maintain services where possible.
The majority of schools will remain open during the strike, although parents are asked to contact the school directly if they need more details.
Services for vulnerable people should continue to operate as usual – the emergency number is 0845 121 2975.
There will be no normal household waste collections on the strike days. Collections of household waste will take place on Saturday 19 July.
Recycling services will not operate but will resume again as normal after the strike action.
All customer service centres and libraries will be closed. Although the contact centre will be open, it may take longer to answer your calls than usual.
Chief Executive Roger Ellis said: "We are working hard to minimise disruption during the strike and where services are likely to be affected we have taken appropriate steps to keep people informed."
