Council online planning and building news

Date published: 02/05/2006

Keeping up with the number of building and planning projects going on across Rochdale could be hard work without any help.

Whether it’s the Kingsway Business Park, the building of new schools or the latest development through Housing Market Renewal, there’s plenty to try and keep track of.

But help is at hand through the Council’s Building and Planning online service. Simply visit the Council’s website at www.rochdale.gov.uk and follow the Building and Planning link on the home page.

Here you will find all the planning and building information on all Rochdale’s major projects – but that’s not all. You can also find out of there are any projects going on in your neighbourhood, whether there are plans for any new building, or even if your neighbour wants to build a home extension.

You can also view the plans and forms submitted on any application still awaiting a decision, and submit any comments you may have.

What’s more, because of major investment in the Building and Planning on-line service it is now nationally, second to none.

Ken Smith, Head of Planning and Regulation Services said: “It opens the door to residents to be better able to contribute to the regeneration of the environment they live and work in.”

The investment in this system and its future development meets government and Council aims to keep people fully informed about what is happening to land and buildings in the Borough.

It also allowed the council to meet tough government targets on making such information available by 2006. This has secured the maximum funding possible for the Council in 2006/7 for meeting 100 per cent of the e-government targets in this area.
