12 year-old boy seriously injured in traffice accident

Police in Rochdale are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in which a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured.

At approximately 3.50pm on Wednesday 8 March 2006, the boy got off a school bus at a bus stop on Manchester Road, Rochdale, near to Highfield Hospital.

As he crossed the road, he was in collision with a Renault Megane, which was being driven by a 32 year-old woman.

The boy was taken to Rochdale Infirmary where he was treated for a deep laceration to his head and a broken leg. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
