Waste awareness training

Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale are offering businesses the opportunity to improve their waste management knowledge by attending a Waste Awareness training course, encouraging a more positive approach to tackling waste at work whilst regaining their reputation.

In England alone, the volume of waste produced in one day is enough to fill Trafalgar Square to the top of Nelson's Column. An estimated 59 million tonnes of waste is produced each year by the business sector, of which only 42% is recovered. Reducing waste often means reducing costs as a company recently found that by dramatically reducing their paper use they saved £85,705 annually in print costs.

This one-day course, takes place at Groundwork’s Environment Centre in Oldham, Thursday 12 June 2008, from 9am to 3:30pm and is accredited by the Chartered Institution of Waste Management and endorsed by the Environment Agency.

Its main aim is to provide an introduction to waste management, including information on your legal responsibilities, together with the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage your waste. This will enable you to identify sources of waste within your business and identify how to reduce the amount of waste generated. The course concludes with a short, open-book, multi-choice assessments test with lunch and refreshments provided through out the day.
