The Big Idea behind Zen Internet
Date published: 13/09/2006
Zen Internet has won many awards as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) since it was founded as one of the first ISPs in the UK back in 1995. Now a new book reveals the inspiration and story behind the start of the business
Author Rachel Bridge, Enterprise Editor of The Sunday Times, has included Zen’s creator and Managing Director, Richard Tang in her new book, "My Big Idea - 30 Successful Entrepreneurs Reveal How They Found Inspiration." The book reveals how Tang’s early insight led to the creation of a company that has experienced impressive growth.
Sir Richard Branson claims that the book: "Brilliantly captures the challenge of turning a big idea into a successful business..."
Tang’s challenge began through a discussion with his brother in a pub about the Internet. A smart business decision to invest in this new technology then followed. Over the years he recognied that many businesses valued excellent customer support over cheaper deals. From this came the creation of the Zen ethos, investing in the latest technology with an excellent technical infrastructure, while staying true to the values of quality, reliability and customer service. The Zen technical infrastructure can handle capacity ahead of demand.
Bridge’s book looks at how the company has been brought to this successful level, the challenges Tang faced.
