Domestics Direct help Dyspraxia sufferer clean up

Date published: 23/02/2006

Following their free 'Aggie and Kim Style' make over competition, run on the Rochdale Online web site, Domestics Direct Director, Jo-Anne Curtis explained the reason they chose the winner they did, she says: "we chose our special winner from an excellent response, a young lady with Dyspraxia who, because of her condition, struggles to plan, co-ordinate and cope with many of life’s activities that we all take for granted".

Alison Wallbank from the Social Inclusion Team at Rochdale Employment Development Service  (REDS - offers services to help people with learning disabilities) explained that this young lady has many issues to deal with in her young life and wanted help to make a fresh start.

So Domestics Direct stepped in, taking on the task of transforming her flat back into a clean, fresh comfortable place to live.

Once the makeover was complete, Alison and the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, were asked to return; “Wow” said Alison, “what a transformation, an excellent job”, but the job satisfaction came for Jo-Anne and her team when the young lady, shyly smiled and said “thank you”.
