New Health and Leisure Spa Opens in Rochdale.

Date published: 22/08/2005

The Macdonald Norton Grange has finally opened the prestigious health and leisure  centre, after an official opening day on Saturday 20 August.

The 5 million refurbishment has transformed an old country house into a prestigious new complex with 80 bedrooms, the very latest in conference facilities and a brand new Vital Health, Leisure and Beauty Spa with brand new fitness equipment, together with a variety of beauty rooms to be pampered in.

The opening was attended by Jenny McAlpine, who plays Fizz in Coronation Street, plus Rochdale Mayor and Mayoress, Ashley Dearnley and Beryl Wright.

Ashley Dearnley, Mayor of Rochdale, said: “What a stunning place, I’d be tempted to join myself! I’m most impressed with the level of disabled facilities that they have here, with the large walk in shower and wheelchair access. It’s important that this is considered in a place like this, it’s just that bit of extra courtesy and customer service.”

Jenny McAlpine said: “I’m really impressed with the contemporary design, the whole place is stunning. You can tell that a lot of thought has been put into it, especially with all the disabled facilities that they have.”

The facilities in the leisure and beauty spa:

  • 18-metre swimming pool
  • Thermal suite with bio sauna, rock sauna, cold room, steam room and aroma steam room
  • Internal and external hydro pool
  • Wet and dry changing facilities
  • Techno gym equipment
  • Cardio vascular area
  • Six beauty treatment rooms
